I only compete with myself: Aamir Khan

We often hear the ever-eloquent Shahrukh Khan often proclaim himself the undisputed number one star of Hindi film industry. And we also hear of cold wars between Aamir and his Bollywood contemporaries. But the ‘perfectionist Khan’ is an actor in his own league. He is not a part of the rat race.

"I don't believe in competition with others. I only compete with myself," says the actor who did something unprecedented (for himself) by developing eight-pack abs for his film Ghajini .


About who’s the number one in Bollywood, Aamir had a clear reply: "For me Amitabh Bachchan is No 1. Do Lata Mangeshkar , Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan say they are number one? No one who sits on the top needs to say he is number one. Others keep claiming to be there."

Aamir’s assertion may sound like an indirect potshot at SRK, but the actor says he can’t fight with the King Khan because he is a friend.

"Do you think I could dare to fight with Shah Rukh. He is a good friend and so I can't fight with him. I respect him a lot," Aamir said.

Known to commit himself dedicatedly to his movie roles, Aamir is now shedding his brawns for his role in Rajkumar Hirani’s film 3 Idiots .

However, the actor has a jocular take on who could be the 3 Idiots of Bollywood.

“I think Shah Rukh, Salman and I are truly the three idiots of Bollywood,” Aamir joked.

That’s not bad sense of humour.
