Many fingers are again pointed at Anu Malik who is infamous for plagiarizing tunes from other musician’s compositions.
After the musical scores of Refugee and Josh it seemed that some originality has finally trickled down into Anu Malik, but the composer himself has cleared all such conjectures.
Without the slightest compunction, Anu picked up from UK-based composer Bally Jagpal’s ‘Ghar Aaja Sohneya’ and garnished it into Fiza’s much-raved-about number ‘Aaja mahiya’. The song, shot on the current sensation Hrithik Roshan, is hogging the number one position on music charts.
The original song, sung by Shazia Mansoor, was released in UK around six months back under the label of Music Box. And Venus acquired the copyrights of the album from Music Box for its India-release. The video of the song, shot on Sameer Soni and Sharbani Mukherjee, is currently making frequent rounds on the music channels.
Not only did Anu brazenly lift the tune, he did not even provide for some variation in the semblance of the song’s punch line ‘Aaja Soneya’ to ‘Aaja Mahiya’.
Well, such pilferage on part of one of India’s leading film musicians is not only a cause for shame, it also points at the lack of talent and originality in them.
And Guess what! It’s Anu who is getting all the credit for the composition.
