SCOOP!! & NEWS Boney M’s Liz Mitchell cuts a cozy concert in Delhi21st Sept 2004 15.05 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau Liz Mitchell, the leading female singer of the 1970’s disco band Boney M, cut a small concert at a garden party in the Indian capital on Saturday night. Although there was no big applause by the audience when Mitchell took the stage around 11 PM, but as she went by singing all-time favorites such as ‘Brown Girl’ (which is an old Jamaican nursery rhyme), ‘Ma Baker’ and ‘Rasputin’, the atmosphere lifted and the crowd started to enjoy. 
More than 100 people sang along as Mitchell, the original voice of Boney M, sang the band's old hits like ‘Daddy Cool’ and ‘Rivers of Babylon’. Mitchell said she was earlier worried of the tepid audience involvement, but later the crowd started enjoying. In their heydays, Boney M sold around 150 million records around the world with around 200 gold and platinum singles. In 1978, ‘Rivers of Babylon’ and ‘Brown Girl In The Ring’ spent 40 weeks on the British charts and till date remains the fifth best-selling record in that country of all time.
