Indian musicians plan Yogdaan for tsunami victims 05th Jan 2005

Spearheaded by Tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain , about sixteen classical musicians will perform in a concert to raise money to help the victims of tsunami disaster.
While the celebrities in Bollywood are doing their bit to alleviate the suffering of tsunami victims, various illustrious musicians of India will perform in a concert titled Yogdaan (Contribution) for the cause.
The concert, to be held in Mumbai on January 7, will reportedly feature a number of artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Jasraj, Kishori Amonkar, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Sultan Khan, Ustad Rais Khan, Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Shankar Mahadeven, Satish Vyas, Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, Pandit Ajay Pohankar, Taufic Qureshi, Ganesh, Kumaresh, Roopak Kulkarni and Ulhas Kashalkar.
“We don’t know yet if it will be only classical music (concert) because more artists want to perform. There may be some fusion music too,” said Zakir Hussain whose company Zakir Hussain Promotion Pvt Ltd is organizing the concert in collaboration with Pancham Nishad Creatives.
Tickets for the concert are priced at Rs 150, Rs 300 and Rs 500. Proceeds from the concert will go to the Prime Ministers’ Relief Fund.
