Asha Bhosle's latest album Chura Liya Dil Tumne has got a very positive response from Polish music buffs.
Poland has been getting a taste of Indian music and movies for the last two years. The bhangra rage followed by the festival of Shah Rukh Khan films has literally made Bollywood a household name in Poland.
And now, singer Asha Bhosle ’s latest album is making waves after its recent release there. The album is a revived version of Asha's songs of yesteryears. Her husband and music composer, late R.D. Burman, composed these songs in 70s and 80s.
An IANS report quotes Robert Sankowski, the music critic for Gazeta Wyborcza, the largest circulated Polish newspaper, as saying: “Asha charms us with her sweet and somewhat melancholic melodies. The quality of her high voice is remarkable.”
Sankowski also spoke highly of the musical genius of R.D. Burman.
"While Western composers sought inspiration from Indian classical music, RD got his inspiration from the Western tradition - be it rock, jazz or gypsy. He comes out as a thrilling musician," the noted critic wrote.
In the recent years, Indian music and movies have found acceptance not only among the Indians in Poland, but also among the Polish youngsters.
