HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | MUSIC 'Zinda' music a rage in Pakistan14th Jan 2006 14.00 IST By Agencies The warming of relations between India and Pakistan at the political level may still be "a far cry" but the ''meeting of hearts'' between the people residing on both sides of the border seems truly a reality now. In what could be seen as the latest example of ''cultural bonhomie'' between people of the two countries, the music of Sanjay Gupta 's Zinda , which has Pakistani pop singer Strings composing and singing some of its songs, is a rage with the people of Pakistan.
The "much-awaited" film, which created history last month after it became the first in Bollywood's history to have its music released simultaneously in India and Pakistan, has the people of Pakistan ''swaying to its tunes''. ''The music of Zinda, which was released on December 10 last year in India and Pakistan simultaneously, has become an instant rage with the people there,'' playback singer Shibani Kashyap, who has sung two songs in the film, including the ''chartbuster'' title track 'Zinda Hoon main', told a news agency in New Delhi. ''So popular is the music of the film with people of Pakistan that the authorities have, on popular demand of the Pakistani public, invited us to the neighbouring country to perform a live show,'' Shibani said. According to Shibani, it was the Pakistani band, Strings that played a major role in ensuring the simultaneous release of the music of the film in both the countries. ''Strings came up with the idea of the simultaneous release of the music of 'Zinda' in India and Pakistan since they were themselves associated with the film's music, having been roped in by the director Sanjay Gupta for singing songs for the film, including the title track, which has scaled popularity charts in India ever since the release of the music,'' Shibani said. ''I think it’s a great accomplishment as it means taking a step forward in trying to bridge the distance between our cultures,'' she said. According to Shibani, one of the reasons why the music of the film was a rage both in India as well as Pakistan is that ''the songs of Zinda have real good quality, thought-provoking lyrics besides having a haunting melody about them''. Besides Shibani, the album, released in two versions (Lounge and Club), has compositions by Strings, young composer Nikhil Chinapa and the music director duo of Vishal-Shekhar. In fact, the song 'Yeh Hai Meri Kahani', a composition by Strings, has already become a rage among the masses. The film stars Sanjay Dutt , John Abraham , Lara Dutta , Celina Jaitley and Mahesh Manjrekar .
