An Australian pop group has been roped in to sing and perform in the promotional video of Bollywood director Sajid Khan’s movie Hey Baby .
‘Girlband’ is just a year old pop group consisting of four members: Renee Bargh, Renee Armstrong, Jessica Smith and Patrice Tipoki. Their first single ‘Party Girl’ was at number 43 on ARIA charts last year.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has been in talks with Girlband for a long time to sing a song in ‘Hey Baby’. The four girls have finally accepted the offer and are reportedly in India to record the song and shoot its video.
However, the song and the video will not be a part of the film but will be used purely for promotional purposes.
The English song that Girlband perform is the remixed version of the original Hindi song composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the movie. The remixed version is by Akbar Sami and the English lyrics are written by Anvita Dutt Gunjan.
According to producer Sajid Nadiadwala, Girlband’s number would mark “a perfect Indo-Australian cultural fusion” because ‘Hey Baby’ is set in Australia and has been shot in Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney.
