No Neverland memorial for Michael Jackson

The much-rumoured and much-awaited public viewing of Michael Jackson at his fantasy abode Neverland has reportedly been cancelled, according to a statement released by the Jackson family.

“Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland,” said the statement.


However, the late pop icon’s fans can take heart because the public viewing is not off the cards. But when and where will it happen, remains to be announced.

“Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Soul legend Diana Ross has been named the guardian of Michael Jackson's children, if the late King of Pop's mother is not able to look after them. Jackson's mother, Katherine, 79, was named the caretaker for the three youngsters, while Ross, 65, Michael’s mentor, is to be their back-up as a guardian, reports the Telegraph.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, leaving behind a huge musical legacy. He is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.
