Check out the first trailer of choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza’s ABCD - Any Body Can Dance, touted as India’s first 3D dance film.
The film features performers from reality show "Dance India Dance", which Remo D’Souza had previously judged. The show's winners Salman Yusuf Khan, Dharmesh Yelande, Prince Gupta, Mayuresh Wadkar and Vrushali Chavan play central roles. The pivotal roles are played by Prabhu Deva, Kay Kay Menon and Lauren Gottlieb.
Prabhu Deva plays a great dancer whose world comes down crashing after he is ousted from a dance show. He starts from a scratch with a ragtag bunch of local street dancers. They begin practicing in a dilapidated warehouse and take part in the same competition from which Deva was ousted.
Kay Kay Menon plays the headstrong dance instructor who trains an elite group of dancers. His mantra is one must dance to ‘impress’. However, Prabhu Deva teaches a different mantra to his ragtag bunch. According to him, one must dance to ‘express’.
At first glance, ABCD - Any Body Can Dance does seem to have some resemblance with the Step Up movie series from Hollywood.
The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. It is directed and choreographed by Remo D’Souza.
