Love's labor lost - The Deewane Music Review

After a brief sabbatical Ajay Devgan reappears with Urmila Matondkar in Harry Baweja's soon-to-be-released musical love story �Deewane�. Sanjeev Darshan scores the music for Sameer's lyrics.

The title song is disappointing. It has too many twists and turns that steal the melody from it.

Udit Narayan and Kavita Krishnamoorty heartily render the soft and lilting 'Churao Na Dil'. The song, low in tempo, is further embellished with the guitar notes sprinkled against the backdrop of digital beats.

The album has Punjabi singers Sukhwinder Singh and Jaspinder Narula sharing the microphone for two numbers 'Ishq Da Gunjal', which is a poor attempt to do a Punjabi foot-stomping number, and in 'Sajna Ne Phool' Jaspinder Narula stands out. Sameer has penned fairly good lyrics for 'Ae Dil', which appears twice, crooned by Jaspinder Narula and Hariharan. Oozing romance, the song (Ae Dil) undoubtedly remains the best number in the whole package.

The pacy number 'Qayamat' fails to register though Sukhwinder Singh and Alka Yagnik try best. Similarly 'Jogia'is a banal number replete with slushy sentiments.

Sanjeev Darshan's music, although orchestration-based, lacks in good melodies. The rhythm does not have flow. The only thing good in this package is Jaspinder Narula's vocals in 'Sajna Ne Phool' and Hariharan's 'Ae Dil'. Sameer's lyrics once again stay on the average.
