Don Synopsis

A ruthless gangster named Don Amitabh Bachchan is killed during a scuffle with the police. Since only DSP DeSilva Iftekhar knows of this incident, he recruits another person named Vijay Amitabh Bachchan who is a spitting image of Don. Vijay is planted in Don's place in Don's gang and DeSilva has a plan to nab the entire gang in this way. But when DeSilva dies during a raid, the secret that Vijay is not Don is also buried with him. Now Vijay is on the run - from the police and the criminal gang - and has to find the last piece of evidence to prove his real identity before it is too late.

When ruthless Don Amitabh Bachchan is killed by the police, the DSP Iftekhar is afraid that another "Don" will take over when the rest of the gang come of know of his death, so he, unbeknown to the rest of the police force, recruits Don's look-alike Vijay also Amitabh Bachchan to become the real Don. Vijay is, at first reluctant, but when promised that two children he is caring for, will be looked after and educated, he agrees. He is successfully re-located back with his gang by feigning injuries, and loss of memory. He soon recuperates. Then fate takes an unexpected turn when the DSP is killed and Vijay becomes the suspect; his role as the Don ends, as his gang comes to know he is a fraud; Vijay must run for his life - both from the police and Don's gang - for his life, and the life of the two children.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan appeared in a double role in this action film. There was the sexy and glamorous Zeenat Aman and a lovely number 'Yeh mera dil pyaar ka deewana' by Helen.

In the film, there is this 'Don' Amitabh who is a ruthless smuggler. His only soft spot is Zeenat Aman. 'Don' dies in a police confrontation, and as a co-incidence there is his look-alike a country bumpkin, who has come to a city for the first time and breaks into 'Yeh hai bambai nagariya tu dekh babua'.

Cop Iftekhar spots the duplicate Amitabh and sends him as 'Don' to the notorious gang that is now being monitored by Pran. Zeenat comes to know the difference but she has already fallen in love with Don Duplicate. She joins him and Iftekhar in the guerilla warfare against Pran and his accomplices.
