Fanaa Synopsis
Blind from birth, Zooni Baig lives in a small town 45 kilometers from Gulmarg in the State of Kashmir, India, with her protective parents, Zulfikar, and Nafisa. When she expresses a desire to travel to Delhi with a dance troupe of local girls, her parents initially refuse permission, but subsequently relent. As a result, Zooni travels on her own for the first time. Upon arrival in Delhi, the troupe is met by their Guide, Rehan Khan, who takes an instant liking to Zooni, soon both fall in love, and on her last day in Delhi, sleep together. Rehan wants Zooni to regain her vision and gets her admitted to a local hospital, while she invites her parents to witness her regaining her sight as well as meet her lover. Rehan is dispatched to pick them from Delhi but on the way there he is killed in a bomb explosion by Independent Kashmiris Front IKF, a militant organization that wants an independent Kashmir without interference from both India and Pakistan. Zooni does regain her vision, she gets to see her parents for the first time, but is devastated to learn of Rehan's passing. The Baigs then return home, where a few months later Zooni gives birth to a baby boy, Rehan Jr.. 5 years later, Nafisa passes away, leaving the close-knit family in tears. Then two years after this, there is a knock on the door on a stormy snowy night. The door is opened by Zooni who sees an Indian Army Officer, Major Rajvir Singh, seriously wounded and in need of urgent medical attention. She lets him in, while Zulfikar does his best to care to his wounds. What the Baigs do not know is that Rajvir's entry into their household is a harbinger for havoc and death, as he is not who he claims to be, but is a terrorist who has managed to get a hold of a nuclear trigger, which when attached to a nuclear device could result in a explosion killing millions. Watch what happens when Zulfikar and Zooni come to know via television who this young man really is.

Kajol as Zooni Ali Beg The movie has Kajol playing a Kashmiri girl named Zooni Ali Beg. She is a beautiful blind girl with a kind heart. Zooni wants to discover and experience life without letting her handicap become a hurdle.
Aamir Khan as Rehan Qadri Rehan is a local tour guide with a penchant for poetry. A vivacious man who uses his charm to woo girls, Rehan believes in living life to the fullest. He is not like a man who can get tethered to any place or person.
To experience life on her own, Zooni leaves the protective confines of her home and goes out in the world. This is where she meets Rehan, the man who will change her life and will himself be changed in the process.
Rehan is absolutely smitten with Zooni once he gets to know her better. He sees beyond her blindness and looks into her pure soul. He wants Zooni to experience the beauty of this world. He gives her his time, his mind and his heart.
Rehan makes Zooni see places. Being a tour guide himself, he takes her to various spots in Delhi. Zooni cherishes every moment spent with Rehan. But little does she know that this romantic bliss will soon be shattered.
There are other sides of Rehan which he has never shown to Zooni. He knows telling the truth will take Zooni away from him. But he also fears that her being a part of his life can destroy her.
'Fanaa' is one such tale of love and the unfathomable things love can do to people. It is a tale of love, trust, betrayal and pain. It is a tale in which the protagonists have to make the toughest choice of their lives.
The film marks the return of Kajol to acting in films after a long sabbatical she took following her marriage to actor Ajay Devgan.
This is also the first film to have Aamir and Kajol playing lovers. The two have previously acted in 'Ishq' but they were not cast opposite each other in the film.
'Fanaa' also has a song partly sung by Aamir and Kajol together.
'Fanaa' has been shot in Kashmir, Delhi and Poland. In Delhi, the film has been shot at historical monuments like Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Purana Qila, Lodhi Gardens and other Delhi spots like Chandni Chowk and the Old Delhi Railway Station.
The movie is a Yash Raj banner presentation, produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Kunal Kohli . The movie has music by Jatin Lalit.
