The Ishq Hai Tumse Movie Review

RATING: 4

Ishq Hai Tumse is as stale a love story can be. Although the film's story is about relationships and their complexities, it hardly manages to pluck even a string at viewer's heart.

The attempts to punctuate the film with 'emotionally charged sequences' (some of which are visibly deliberate) fall flat owing to pathetically written script and poor performances by its leading cast - Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu. By the time the movie ends, one feels as dry as a desiccated coconut.

The film is the story of a Hindu boy (Dino) and a Muslim girl (Bipasha). Their fathers (played by Vikram Gokhale and Alok Nath respectively) are very good friends. The two families share a close bond.

During a marriage ceremony, Dino comes across Bipasha and falls in love with her at the first sight. However, he doesn't express his feelings and waits for the right moment. But, to the torture of viewers, that moment doesn't come for a long time for our young hero.

And when that waited moment looks imminent, some family tragedy strikes and takes viewers' attention to a different line of thought. Good trick by south Indian director G. Krishna, but audience today has become more intelligent to see through this charade.

The first time Dino comes almost to the brink of saying Ishq Hai Tumse to Bipasha, his father has a kidney failure and is admitted to a hospital. The second time he musters the courage to express his feelings, Bipasha's father sets forth on his heavenly abode.

And so it continues until Bipasha's marriage is fixed with some other guy and a desperate Dino has no other option left but to speak out. And guess what? When he does speak, it hardly looks credible, thanks to poor acting by good-looking model-turned-actor.

In fact, the chemistry between Dino and Bipasha is hardly visible. The superficiality of their facial expressions and the shallowness of their projected romance (even though unexpressed) is all there is to see throughout the movie.

Particularly for the ardent fans of Bipasha, the movie will be a disappointment as there is hardly any sequence that shows the sensuous belle in a skimpy dress.
