Lacks Freshness - The Kal Kissne Dekha Music Review
RATING: 4 A movie with debutants, 'Kal Kissne Dekha' is by Bollywood's once ace producer Vashu Bhagnani, who has produced numerous movies with No.1 in title. So here is a movie where he is launching his son Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai, granddaughter of late Manmohan Desai. The flick promises freshness because of the newcomers, but it's hard to say the same about the movie's music.
Music director duo Sajid-Wajid has tried to come up with nice bearable tunes but unfortunately they're not catchy enough, though few songs from the movie can appeal to some. And the romantic lyrics by Sameer are no better than middling.
Aalam Guzarne Ko, sung by Sonu Nigam and Suzy Q, will remind you of Sonu's previous album songs from the 90s. The track is a slow, typical Bollywood melody with romantic lyrics.
Soniye Billori , again delivered by the same duo, is a bhangra number and will make you think that you have heard this song earlier. A popular song on FM channels nowadays, this is one of the best tracks in the whole compilation.
Then we have Aasman Jhuk Gaya, the intro number for the debutants where they have shown their dancing skills. The song has punch, energy and is rendered with required zeal by Shaan and Shreya.
An album without a dancing number can't be catchy, so comes Jashan Hai, Josh Hai, vocalized by Alisha Chinoy, Neeraj Shridhar and Wajid. Alisha is her usual self, whereas English lines sung by Neeraj in between just give a different mood to the song. The lounge effect is well created with the use of heavy arrangements and electronic dance music.
A passionate rendition by Wajid, Tere Bina Lagta Nahin Jiya is surely the winner and the most remarkable one in the whole album. With a dash of Sufi music and simple lyrics, the song focuses on vocals and is not heavy on music.
Bin Tere Mar Javan Mein is a song compiled for the actress Vaishali Desai who shows her classical dance in this particular number. And who else can sing this song better than Shreya Ghosal? A classical number mixed with contemporary music and beats, the number fails to pass muster with music lovers.
The title track, however, should have been better. 'Kal Kissne Dekha' title track sends you back to the 70s era. Sajid has delivered Kal Kissne Dekha romantic version with style, though the song is average. Shaan gets to sing another song Kal Kissne Dekha club mix . One hearing and you will know it's a forgettable track.
Bhagnani's almost all No.1 movies had good music. So what went wrong with this movie's album? Forgettable tunes of the song will affect the film's market. Sajid-Wajid have followed the comfortable Bollywood music suit and not even once tried to do something different. We can't figure a single song except Tere Bina Lagta Nahin Jiya , which is worth listening twice.
