RATING: 6 With an ensemble of veteran and new actors like Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty and Imran Khan, director Soham Shah is back after a hiatus with his movie ‘Luck’. And what you expect from a chic action movie’s music album, ‘Luck’ serves it all to you. Yes, its soundtrack rocks.
Composer duo Salim-Sulaiman along with lyricists Shabbir Ahmed and Anvita Dutt Guptan have come up with a hit album that features energetic numbers, just right for an action thriller.
Aazma-Luck is the key The album kicks off with a soft rock number that’s easy on the ears. Debutante Shruti Haasan gives a glimpse of her rock-star persona with her cool rendition that will leave the music buffs impressed. Singer Clinton Cerejo joins her later in the song, making the track a chartbuster. Luck Aazma mp3 is the male version in the voices of Sukhwinder Singh and Satya Hinduja. Alas! The singers fail to impress. It sounds as usual like any other Sukhwinder song. But this number is a bit fast with more beats and rhythm and is more Bollywoodish in feel. We still prefer Shruti’s version. And another is Luck Aazma remix which is again a middling track in comparison to the original.
Jee Le The song is a full-on masala track. It begins as a hip-hop number but soon shifts gear with the use of tabla and becomes a qawwali number, and this makes the song very peppy. Shruti Pathak and Naresh Kamat have crooned the song with the style and zeal that’s just perfect! Jee Le remix version sounds better than the original. It’s a foot-tapping number.
Khudaya Ve Here is the most hyped number of the album, Khudaya Ve sung by none other than composer Salim Merchant himself. The song will woo you with its mesmerizing melody and Salim’s voice. Indeed one of the best in the score. The song has two remixes Radio mix and the simple Remix. Both the remixes are just average and their contribution to the album is almost zilch. Radio mix is a reprise version and Remix version is so-so. At times it’s better for composers to spare some of the songs from remixing.
Lagaa Le This song sounds like a modern cabaret. Anushka Manchanda has used her expertise to croon the song with oomph and chutzpah. The track is another edition to disc numbers with the use of contemporary techno music. Nothing else is worth mentioning about the track. And when lyrics like ‘Khud pe yakin hai to dav laga le’ is heard, a question pops up in mind – where is the originality?
In an album with four originals and five remixes, three originals are good musical pieces that you can hear in repeat mood without getting bored. Salim-Sulaiman can really surprise you; they came up with the musical scores of movies like ‘Chak De India’ and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. Though their last movie, ‘8x10 Tasveer’ couldn’t leave a mark, the talented duo have bounced back with ‘Luck’.
