Malamaal Weekly Preview

'Malamaal Weekly' is yet another comedy film by Priyadarshan . The movie's story revolves around a lottery ticket and a bunch of hilarious characters.

The movie stars Ritesh Deshmukh , Reema Sen , Paresh Rawal , Om Puri , Arbaaz Khan , Shakti Kapoor , Asrani and Rajpal Yadav .

The story of 'Malamaal Weekly' is set in a small town. People in this small town are poor, illiterate and live a hand-to-mouth existence. Any prospect of making good money, particularly windfall, is more than lucrative to these people.

Paresh Rawal plays Lilaram, a lottery seller who takes great pleasure and pride in boasting that he is the only literate(?) person in the village who can manage to speak a few words of English.

He is the main conspirator, the mastermind in the money-race in this movie.

Ritesh Deshmukh plays Kanhaiya, a young lad with nothing consequential to do. He works as a servant in the house of the village milkman Balwant (Om Puri). Kanhaiya is often at the receiving end of his employer's insults and beatings.

The reason why Kanhaiya silently bears the insults and beatings at the hands of his employer is because he is absolutely smitten with Sukhmani (Reema Sen), Balwant's daughter.

Sukhmani is in her marriageable age but hasn't got hitched because her father has not been able to arrange the big sum for dowry.

Om Puri plays Balwant, alias Ballu, the village milkman. He makes profits by adulterating milk with water.

He is also famous as 'bahadur Balwant' among villagers. But in reality he is a chicken. Yet, to live up to his reputation of a brave man among the villagers, Balwant keeps intently jumping into dangerous situations.

Arbaaz Khan plays Jayesh Agrawal, the lottery inspector for 'Malamaal Weekly Lottery'.

He is a gullible simpleton whose mind cannot conceive or catch any scam or scandal. However, Jayesh does catch dust allergy the moment he comes to the village and keeps sneezing between every two words he speaks.

As the movie's story goes, Lilaram, the lottery seller learns one day on TV that one of the tickets he had sold has won the One Crore Rupees Bumper Prize. None except Lilaram knows this. So in order to find out who the possessor of the ticket is, Lilaram devices an ingenious plan.

Lilaram throws a party to all the 105 people who bought lottery tickets from him. The condition for the guests is that they have to come with their tickets. All turn up for the party except one, Anthony the drunkard. And none of those who turn up has the winning lottery ticket.

Knowing that Anthony ought to have the winning ticket, Lilaram goes to his place, only to find him dead in front of TV. It seems that Anthony died with shock after hearing the news of his big lottery win.

Thus begins a series of hilarious events with everyone in the village trying to claim the winning amount. There are unexpected twists and turns in the story. Who will get rupees one crore?

'Malamaal Weekly' also has a marginal appearance by Rakhi Sawant.

The story of 'Malamaal Weekly' is written by Priyadarshan himself. The movie has cinematography by Sameer Arya.

'Malamaal Weekly' is slated for release in March.
