The nuvvostanante nenoddantana Movie Review

Love Triumphs

RATING: 6

The hallmark of a good director is the ability to fashion the extraordinary out of the ordinary. Judged by that criterion, debutant director Prabhu Deva passes the test in flying colors. Along with producer MS Raju he has crafted a fine flick entitled Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana.

The name is a tongue twister, but the story is simple. Prabhu Deva-Raju duo have succeeded in turning out a sure-shot winner with a boy-meets-the-girl tale. The conception may be clichéd, but the execution is efficient. The end product is eminently watchable.

The achievement is all the more creditable considering that it is Prabhu Deva's maiden effort. The Telugu audience has lapped it up unquestioningly, given the reception the movie has had at the box office.

Prabhu Deva gets excellent support from scriptwriter MS Raju, music director Devi Sri Prasad and cameraman Venu and the star cast comprising Siddhartha and Trisha, the reigning queen of Tollywood.

The hero Sivaramakrishna (Srihari) is self-made young man, who lavishes affection on his only sister Siri (Trisha). Sivaram had to bring her up the hard way as their mother passes away at an early age. The marriage of best friend Veda takes Siri to her house where she runs into Santhosh (Siddharth), an NRI born to rich parents (Prakash Raj and Geeta).

As it happens, opposites attract. Love blossoms between Siri and Santhosh. But then, the course of love never runs smooth. The roadblocks come in the form of Santhosh's mother and her friend Jaya Prakash Reddy. The friend wants Santhosh to marry his daughter (Nandita).

But Santhosh refuses to oblige his mother. In fact, he outsmarts the mother to reach Siri's village. He meets Sivaram and expresses his desire to marry Siri. The brother, who is wary of the rich, is willing to give his nod of approval. But he puts the young man to a tough test, thinking that it would put off Santhosh.

The young man passes the test in a happy denouement, much to the surprise and ultimate delight of Sivaram and others in the village.

Actingwise, Srihari towers above the rest. The film pivots around Srihari, who looks convincing as the lover boy who rises to the occasion and proves his mettle. Siddharth's Santhosh is a close second. Trisha does full justice to the role. The girl proves that apart from the looks she has the ability to get under the skin of the role too. Undoubtedly it is one of her most memorable roles. The supporting cast like Prakash Raj, Sunil, Geeta do a good job as well.

All in all, M.S.Raju and Prabhu Deva have come out with a winner that appeals to one and all.

Worth seeing.
