The Om Jai Jagadish Movie Review |

By ApunKaChoice Bureau
Rating: 3/5
Om Jai Jagdish has a right mix of realism and Bollywood gloss. Anupam Kher, film's director, convincingly creates the ambience of a happy family comprising of three brothers with almost contradictory qualities.
While Om (Anil) is a mature man with deeply rooted Indian values and respect for joint family system, Jai (Fardeen) is an ambitious young guy who wants to settle alone in US with his girlfriend Neetu (Urmila). And Jagdish (Abhishek) is a carefree youngster without any worries in the world.
The film is a family entertainer with interesting twists but it lacks the intensity to bind a viewer. It harps a little too much on traditional values and gets mushy whenever there is an emotional outburst in the story. Yet the main pulling force of Om Jai Jagdish is its star-studded cast. Anil Kapoor does his big brother act believably and Abhishek too portrays a callow and vulnerable youngster with ease. Performances by Fardeen Khan and the film's female cast (Mahima, Urmila and Tara Sharma) are average.
The film, besides being Anupam Kher's directorial debut, also marks the return of veteran actress Waheeda Rahman to the silver screen in a motherly role.
