Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav Synopsis |
|---|
First of all let us all be clear that this movie has nothing to do with the personal life of Bihar's controversial politician Lalit Prasad Yadav, though he does appear in the beginning and the end of this story. This story centers around a woman named Padmashree Divakar Kashyap who along with her boyfriend, Lalchand Dilachand alias Laloo, is in search for some family diamonds that were reportedly stolen by a Mr. Saxena. While Laloo haphazardly questions a terrified Saxena with his cigarette-lighter pistol, Saxena dies of fright. This leaves the duo no choice save to find out where the diamonds are on their very own, and this takes them to South Africa where they meet the third person of this title, namely Advocate Prasad Pritam Pradyuma, who is the legal counsel for gangster Johny, who is being held by the police as a suspect in a bank robbery. Then we get to meet the fourth person named Yadav, who is Johny's assistant, and when we put all four together we get the full title. Watch how the foursome attempt to find the diamonds, and in the process tie themselves up in hilarious knots.

Contrary to the general notion, Mahesh Manjrekar's Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav is not a political satire but an out-and-out action comedy about three characters Laloo, Prasad and Yadav who are smitten with a girl named Padma who is further in love with diamonds that are in a bank in Cape Town.
Laloo (Sunil Shetty) is a man whose heart skips a beat at the very sight of any girl. He suffers from an unusual psychological disorder called 'shesightophrenia' in which he gets aroused at the mere sight of the opposite sex. He is in love (or that's what he thinks) with his girlfriend Padma (Masumeh Makhija), but still he can't remain loyal to her because of his irrepressible desires.
Fed up of Laloo's playboyish ways, Padma walks out on him and despite Laloo's countless apologies, she goes to Cape Town to get some jewels stolen from her father by his cheating partner.
Once she lands in Cape Town she finds Laloo already there to receive and woo her. She pardons him and the two set about to find diamonds. But it turns out that the diamonds are in a bank. So Laloo takes the help of a local thug Johnny and his sidekick Yadav (Johnny Lever) and together they rob the bank and manage to get the diamonds out safely.
It is now Padma plays her trump card. She informs the police about Johnny's involvement in the robbery, but sadly for her, Johnny hides the loot somewhere before the cops catch him.
Now, enters into picture Johnny's lawyer Prasad (Mahesh Manjrekar). In order to get information about diamonds from Prasad, Padma plays her charming games on him and he gets carried away. This makes Laloo very jealous and he decides to get square with Prasad but he soon finds out that there is one more man who has fallen victim to Padma's charms - Yadav.
Now the situation becomes -- each man for himself.
Will Padma be able to get the diamonds? Who is the man who will get to win Padma's heart and perhaps a share of her diamonds too?
