A fun film

Rating: 0.5/5
Tamil hero Madhavan has been languishing in the sidelines for far too long. The Sunder-directed 'Rendu' has put Maddy back on the center-stage.
The hero with the boyish grin dominates 'Rendu' in a double role, his first. Maddy excels in the comedy scenes with comedian Vadivelu.
The on-screen chemistry between the lead pair, Madhavan and Reema Sen, also comes off well. The duo is coming together after their first film, 'Minnale', which was a runaway hit.
The film has been produced by popular Tamil actress, Khushboo under the banner of Avni Cinemax and presented by Oscar Ravichandran.
Sakthi (Madhavan) is in the city to look for a job. He stays with his uncle Girikalan (Vadivelu) who ekes out a living doing magic shows.
At the venue of the show, Sakthi meets Velli (Reema Sen) who runs a stall next to theirs. They fall in love.
A series of killings rock various cities. A feature of the killings is that the killer leaves the date and venue of his next murder. CBI officer (K.Bhagyaraj) traces the trail of the murderer to Sakthi in Chennai.
Why Sakthi? Because the killer, Kannan (Madhavan), is a Sakthi look-alike. Kannan is on a mission of revenge against the villains who kill his family and girlfriend (Anushka).
'Rendu' has borrowed liberally from two Malayalam movies of Dileep, based on the revenge theme : 'Kalyana Raman' and 'Chess'.
Reema Sen and new girl Anushka provide the glamour quotient. Both ooze oomph in song sequences.
D.Imman's music is catchy. Two songs,Neeyen Thozhiya and Mobila Mobila, have caught popular imagination. .
A fun film which enables you to while away the time.
