The first trailer of Sanjay Gupta’s much-awaited film Shootout At Wadala shows John Abraham as a Marathi gangster taking on the might of the powerful dons of the Mumbai underworld.
Flashback to 1970s. Manya Surve (John Abraham), a Marathi-Hindu rises high in the crime world of Mumbai and rules the Agar Bazaar area of Dadar, posing competition to none less than the dreaded Ibrahim brothers, Saabir Ibrahim Qadri (Manoj Bajpayee) and Dawood Ibrahim (Sonu Sood). Manya takes the challenge, walks into his enemy’s den, bumps off their henchmen, and comes to be known as “Mumbai Ka Naya Baap”.
But the meteoric rise of Manya Surve is halted by the tough cop Isaaque Bhagwaan (Anil Kapoor), who tweaks the law he serves to curb crime in Mumbai. Along with his subordinate, Isaaque executes the first major encounter killing outside Wadala College on Jan 11, 1982. His victim: Manya Surve.
Shootout At Wadala is the true story of the first ever encounter in Bombay. It outlines the rampant gang wars in Bombay and culminates in an explosive 3-way face-off between the dreaded gangster Dawood, the notorious and charismatic gangster Manya Surve and Inspector Isaaque Bhagwaan.
The film also stars Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Ronit Roy. Shootout At Wadala is slated to release on May 1. It’s directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Gupta.
