'Thalaimagan' represents a watershed in the career of Sarath Kumar . It is his 100th film.

The film has been produced by Raadan Media Works, a firm owned by his actress wife, Radhika. In a strange coincidence, Nayantara plays the heroine in 'Thalaimagan'. Nayan's first film in Tamil was also in Sarath Kumar's company.

The cast also includes Seema Biswas, Mukesh Tiwari, Vadivelu, Vijayakumar and a newcomer, John Vijay.

'Thalaimagan', which has been directed by Sarath Kumar himself, has story by Cheran.

The movie turns the spotlight on a major issue of the times : the water crisis threatening to cause even wars between nations. It has been fashioned from a journalist's angle. Sarath Kumar plays the journalist.

Another highlight of Thalaimagan is that director K.S. Ravi Kumar and actress Khushboo play guest roles.
