Sung by Tochi Raina and Rekha Bhardwaj, the song ‘Kabira’ is a fine composition by Pritam and has a rather dreamy yet melancholic feel to it. It has a bit of rustic and folksy flavor with the gloss of western music.
“Main udna chahta hoon, naina, daudna chahta hoon, girna bhi chahta hoon, bas rukna nahin chahta.” This revelation by Ranbir’s character about his wanderlust kicks off the song, and in the visuals that follow one notices how a smitten Deepika Padukone admires Ranbir Kapoor but his eye is always focused elsewhere: at the road, at the landscape passing by, at the distant setting sun.
It establishes the equation between the two characters. It reveals her love, and his quest.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has Deepika Padukone playing a girl who reunites with old friend Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) and together with two more friends (Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin) they go on a trip across India. During this trip she falls in love with him, but he’s busy chasing his dream.
The film will hit theatres on May 31. Check out the song ‘Kabira’.
