The Indian Mainstream Cinema Section at the ongoing 36th International Film Festival of India kicked off with the screening of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's critically-acclaimed film Black .
The film drew large crowds with even the aisles of the INOX multiplex in Panaji bursting to its seams with eager fans.
However, fans who were expecting that the movie’s director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali , and superstar Amitabh Bachchan would turn up for the screening, had to go home disappointed.
'Black' tells the story of a blind-mute-deaf girl ( Rani Mukherjee ) who is given a ray of hope by her teacher (Amitabh Bachchan). The film achieved the rare double of critical acclaim and box-office success.
The section also includes regional language films like Chandramukhi (Tamil) , Thirupaachi (Tamil), Anand (Telugu), Arjun (Telugu), Navra Maajha Navshacha (Marathi), Rishi (Kannada) and Udayananu Tharam (Malayalam).
