Agent Vinod - Music Review
Let’s do the talking! Saif Ali Khan is back with his home production Agent Vinod after his BO hit Love Aaj Kal in 2009. The music of the film was a super success and the producer Saif kept the same composer for his spy thriller Agent Vinod as well. Yo! Pritam gets to compose all the songs for this sleek film, while lyricists Amitabh Bhattacharya and Nilesh Mishra have penned the songs.

Since it’s directed by Sriram Raghvan, the film focuses on the main theme and avoids add-on tracks. Pritam has dabbled in his favourite genre, pop, and come out with some of the coolest tracks you would hear in 2012. I’ll Do The Talking has its vintage charm but is contemporized well. Pungi is sheer fun‘tastic’ track. Pay attention to its quick-witted lyrics or Saif Ali Khan’s devil-may-care attitude in the video of the song, you will be left asking for more!

But there is a surprise for you in the album. Read on:

The promotional stint of Agent Vinod got the necessary hype when the song I’ll Do The Talking released. Pritam took the hit retro track Rasputin by Boney M, and, with his expertise in rehashing, created I’ll Do The Talking. The song with its Bollywoodised tangy tune soon became a hit with the masses, especially the youngsters. Seeing Malika Haydon swaying like a dream also adds more spice to the song. Pritam’s techno-music wizardry also came handy and the result was a fabulous song -- just the right track that could lure masses to the theatres, and glamorous enough to fit in a spy thriller. Neeraj Sridhar croons the song with his delectable smooth voice supported by the jazzy vocals of Shefali Alvaris and Aditi Singh Sharma and Barbie Amod. If not for the singers, the perfecto disc number could have fallen flat. I’ll Do The Talking - Remix is equally entertaining like the original. A hot track destined to rule the disc consoles for the coming months.

Next is not exactly the mujra but still you have Kareena Kapoor trying to serenade you with her katil aadayein in the mujra song Dil Mera Mufta Ka. The song though hyped is nowhere near a serious-in-tune, classic mujra, but instead has a folksy flavor and at some instances also sounds like a qawwalli. Overall, it’s a fast-paced song focusing on the entertainment factor. Singer Nandini Srikar of Bhare Naina fame from the film Ra.One has done a commendable job of delivering the song with required sass. However, the listeners can avoid the remix version of Dil Mera Mufta Ka.

Next, Pritam takes you to the carnival fiesta. This is the most engaging song one could hear on a heartbreak or betrayal. Pungi does carry music composer’s trademark style, and is lashed with grooving beats and goes full-throttle right from the start to the end. Mika’s prankish style and vocals of Nakash makes it an awesome track in the album. If you thought the original Pungi track lacks vivacity (a rarity) then hear the Remix version which comes with a punch and is surely a zippy deal.

The album could have been incomplete without a romantic song. Here is the song Raabta (urdu word meaning connection) " mellifluous, sedate and catchy. The track makes for a pleasant hearing, so we are sure you won’t mind the other three versions of the song. If the original is sung by Shreya Ghosal, other versions of the same track have Hamsika Iyer (the Chammak Challo sensation) behind the mic. Raabta also has Arjit Singh with his high-tempo vocals adding depth to it. Agent Vinod theme is also a fantastic instrumental - fast paced, thrilling and very zingy.

We heard it all and liked it all! The album of Agent Vinod is a nice compilation of five original tracks. It’s good that no extra songs were thrust in the album. Pritam with his hit track record has once again done it. The songs I’ll Do The Talking and Pungi are clear winners while Raabta is for the romantic souls.

Now, we would let music do the talking!
