The Jai Veeru Movie Review

A complete waste

If you've forgotten how precious time and money is, then better go and watch Jai Veeru and later repent doing so.

Jai ( Fardeen Khan ) is an undercover cop pretending as a motor mechanic to trace down a gangster named Tejpal ( Arbaaz Khan ). Veeru ( Kunal Khemu ) is a petty thief who steals cars. He works for Tejpal.

After a scuffle with a bunch of goons, Jai and Veeru become friends. They sing and dance and steal together. But when Veeru comes to know that Jai is a cop, he feels betrayed and shoots Jai and flees. Even as Jai miraculously survives, Veeru grapples with his troubled conscience. On top of it Veeru is hounded both by cops and his gangster boss Tejpal, whose diary of secret he has.

Directed by Puneet Sira, 'Jai Veeru' is a kind of film that takes every ingredient of the formulaic films of the 80s and 90s. There's a little comedy, a bit of action, some oomph (courtesy Anjana Sukhani in a two-piece bikini) and some lusterless romance (between Fardeen and Dia Mirza ).

With its amateurish direction, average music, shoddy cinematography, it's a film that reeks of mediocrity.

Even the actors fail to rise above the banality of the script. Fardeen Khan hams through most of his role. Kunal Khemu is at ease playing a thief with a heart. Arbaaz Khan is restricted to a few expressions. The actresses - Dia Mirza and Anjana Sukhani - are mere eye candies. Dia's character, however, has a small significance at the end. Talk about plot driven characters!

Watch 'Jai Veeru' only if you are in the mood for some self-torture.
