Salman Khan gets court permission for London trip

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was Thursday allowed by a local court in Jodhpur to travel to London to attend a function to unveil his statue at Madame Tussauds gallery.

Salman, who is facing several cases under Wildlife and Arms Acts for allegedly hunting animals, was granted the permission by the Court of the Judicial Magistrate, Jodhpur, Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit after admitting his application.

His counsel Hastimal Saraswat while filing the application on behalf of the forty-one-year old actor, contended that participation of Salman in the unveiling ceremony of his wax statue at Madame Tussauds is his professional need.

Salman's wax statue would be unveiled in London some time in mid-January and he has been allowed to travel between January 13 and 16.

The court is hearing a case against Salman of poaching two black bucks in Konkani village in September 1998.

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan , Tabu , Sonali Bendre and Neelam are co-accused in the case.

Salman was convicted on April 10, 2006 for poaching of a Chinkara at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda Farm on September 28, 1998 during the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya 's film Hum Saath Saath Hain . He was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and slapped with a fine of Rs 25,000.

However, Salman had appealed against the conviction at the Rajasthan High Court where the case is now pending.

Salman was also sentenced to one-year imprisonment in another poaching case in Bhawad and has filed an appeal against it. But the hearing is yet to start as the record is pending with the Rajasthan High Court where the state government filed a plea for enhancement of the sentence.
