Rekha Biography
Born as Bhanurekha on October 10, 1954 in Madras, Rekha is the daughter of south Indian actors Gemini Ganesan and Pushpavalli.
She began her career in Hindi films at the age of 13 in an inconsequential film called Saawan Bhadon.
In the ensuing years, Rekha emerged as one of the most popular faces of Indian cinema. Among her famous movies are particularly the ones she did with Amitabh Bachchan – films like Do Anjaane, Suhaag, Muqqadar Ka Sikander, Mr Natwarlal, Khoon Pasina, Ram Balram and Silsila.
Also among her most memorable roles is that of a courtesan-poetess in Muzaffar Ali’s Umrao Jaan (she won National Award for her performance), Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Khoobsurat (won Filmfare Award) and Rakesh Roshan’s Khoon Bhari Maang (won Filmfare Award).
