On Saturday, we told you that Aamir Khan has consented to play the leading role in director Rakesh Mehra 's next film Rang De Basanti. Here is some more information on that.
Rang De Basanti will be produced by management expert and NRI industrialist Angad Paul who on Sunday announced the launch of the film in Hindi and English.
Producer of the highly-acclaimed British film "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch", Paul, son of NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul, said that the movie Rang De Basanti (paint it yellow) is the story of the youth of today juxtaposed against the youth that fought for India's freedom.
Set to go on the floors in October this year, the film will be the first offering of production team of Paul, Nilesh Dadhich and Mehra under the banner of MPD Films.
While Mehra is a veteran of over 200 commercials in a 15-year-long career as an ad man, Paul and Dadhich, both NRIs, bring the advantage of having worked in the international arena into the venture.
Paul, currently a Director and Chief Executive Officer of Caparo Group, which was founded by his father three decades ago, had served as executive director on the highly-acclaimed two films. Dadhich, grandson of late lyricist Pandit Indira, is a director in a production house that develops and facilitates film products for the global market.
Rang De Basanti, with music by A R Rehman , carries forward the trend of Indian films targeting a global audience like Monsoon Wedding and '1857: The Rising', which again is about India's fight for struggle and stars Aamir.
