The vivacious Preity Zinta has been invited to this year’s Cannes film festival, to be held in May.
Representing Bollywood at the prestigious 59th Cannes film fest this year would be Preity Zinta and filmmaker Karan Johar . Last year Mallika Sherawat was there along with Jackie Chan for the premiere of their movie ‘The Myth’. And Nandita Das was a part of the jury.
Preity is excited by the invitation to Cannes this year and says she is very much looking forward to see films at the fest.
“I am looking forward to the grand festival and am also keen to watch some of the finest international films at the festival. I am glad that I'll be there with Karan,” a media report quotes Preity as saying.
Also representing India at the fest would be filmmaker Dev Benegal, film student Anirban Datta and Bombay-based producer Sunil Doshi.
While Benegal has been selected to participate in the ‘Atelier’ section for seasoned directors and new talent, Datta has been selected in the ‘Cinéfondation’ section for his film ‘Tetris’. Sunil Doshi will showcase Rajat Kapoor’s ‘Mixed Doubles’ to the international delegates attending the ‘Pavillon du Sud’.
It is still not known whether Aishwarya Rai , who has been a regular at the festival for the last few years, will attend this year’s fest.
Cannes Festival will begin on May 17 and conclude on May 28 with the award ceremony.
