Meet the ‘terrorist’ of 'Black and White'

This Friday’s release Black And White introduces newcomer Anurag Sinha .

This Patna boy has got a dream launch in Bollywood. When he came to Mumbai more than a year ago, he had hardly thought that his very first film would be directed by the ‘showman’, Subhash Ghai .

Movies had fascinated Anurag since his childhood. But he took a long time to realize that acting was his true calling.

Anurag, who comes from a small family of four members (a married sister besides parents), did his graduation in Chemistry from Delhi. After his college life got over, a big question loomed over him – what to pursue in future?

He wasn’t interested in continuing his study in chemistry. Rather, he was more interested in arts. Therefore, he joined Pune’s Film And Television Institute of India (FTII) in the acting course.

In 2006, he passed out from FTII and immediately began sending his portfolio to various production houses; one of them was Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts.

As luck had it, in those days Ghai was looking for a new face for his film ‘Chandni Chowk’ which was about terrorism. It was a hard-hitting subject and Ghai wanted an actor who could do justice to the role.

Anurag was called for an audition and he cleared it with flying colours. He was aboard the project, working with some of the finest talents like Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah .

During the course of shooting, the film’s title was changed from ‘Chandni Chowk’ to ‘Black And White’.

The film has Anurag playing a terrorist who comes to Delhi for a deadly mission. But during his stay in Chandni Chowk he meets an idealist professor (Anil Kapoor) and a number of other characters who change his perspective on life and society.

The movie marks a departure for Subhash Ghai from his masala movies to an issue-based realistic flick.
