Having made a niche for herself in the music industry, vivacious Punjabi rap singer Hard Kaur has now set her sight on Bollywood.
Hard Kaur’s life story has inspired Aditya Bhattacharya, son of noted filmmaker Basu Bhattacharya, to make a film on her. Aditya, a self-confessed hardcore fan of Hard Kaur, says he was blown away when he learnt her life story.
From a very young age, Hard Kaur was exposed to harsh realities of life – her mother was kicked out of her marital home, her father was killed in 1984 Sikh riots in India. Life did not become easy after Hard moved to England where she was shunned by both the Black and Asian youth communities. She would help in her mother’s beauty salon by the day and practice singing and dancing in the evening. Through constant struggle and perseverance, Hard Kaur managed to make the right noises and gradually rise to fame.
In the film that Aditya Bhattacharya is making, Hard will play the leading role and will also sing her own songs.
Hard says she has been honing her Hindi and it has been getting much better of late.
Aditya is presently working on the film’s script. The shooting will begin this year only.
