Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has been named the Sexiest Asian Man of the year 2006 by Eastern Eye, Britain’s most popular Asian newspaper.
No wonder Abhishek is the hottest topic of discussion among young girls at high-class parties and social do’s in Mumbai. His charming persona, his stubble, his gait and his talent – all rolled together make a handsome, sexy man.
In corroboration of this very fact, Abhi has been given the top spot by Eastern Eye in its list of 50 Sexiest Asian Men.
Abhishek was shocked to hear this news and replied with a mix of incredulity and humour.
“Oh God really? That’s interesting. Shocking actually. Are people blind? But wow, I would like to thank everyone. I don’t agree with them but it is sweet,” Abhishek said in a press statement.
Last year, Abhishek was on number three while John Abraham topped the newspaper’s list of Sexiest Asian Men.
This year, John has slid down to second spot. Hrithik Roshan and Dino Morea share the fourth place, while Upen Patel , Arjun Rampal and Saif Ali Khan are at 7th, 8th and 9th places respectively. Amitabh Bachchan is ranked at number 16 in the list.
Gouri Sharma, the Eastern Eye reporter who compiled the list with a colleague, says Abhishek was chosen as the sexiest male because of his appeal to the “thinking women” and his ability to “step out of his iconic father’s shadow” and make his own niche in the film industry.
The last week’s edition of Eastern Eye had named Priyanka Chopra as the Sexiest Asian Woman of 2006.
