Priyanka’s southern debut star-crossed

Miss World Priyanka Chopra’s Tamil film debut has run into rough weather following the death of her director under tragic circumstances.

The shooting of the film titled Velan was to begin by August end. But, as ill luck would have it, the film’s director, Tirupati Chamy, died in a car accident, putting a question mark on its future.

Dashing Tamil hero Vijay had been signed up to play the male lead in the film, being produced by V. Sunder under the banner of Viswas Films.

Shanker Raja, son of popular music director Ilaya Raja, had agreed to score the music for the film.

It remains to be seen whether another director would be asked to wield the megaphone for Velan. As of now, Priyanka’s southern dream has soured.
