Sonam Kapoor has apologized to writer-critic Shobhaa De for posting a tweet that described De as a ‘fossil going through menopause’. The message was originally director Puneet Malhotra’s response to De’s scathing review of I Hate Luv Storys which Malhotra has directed and Sonam has acted in. Sonam merely re-tweeted the message on her Twitter page.
“Mrs De I owe you an apology for getting personal. I am ashamed for my momentary lapse in judgment. And apologetic. Every writer and journalist and audience is entitled to her opinion and I respect that,” Sonam wrote on Twitter.
It is believed that Sonam has apologized after pressure from her dad Anil Kapoor who is a senior and respected member of the film industry.
Shobhaa De in her blog had reacted to Sonam’s remark by saying that she (Sonam) doesn’t show signs of “decent upbringing”.
Malhotra’s Tweet was:
“Guys pls don't take Shobhaa De seriously. Shobhaa De is a fossil going through menopause. She doesn't get action.”
