Bollywood tweets support for the Ayodhya verdict

On Thursday the Allahabad High Court gave its verdict on the Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Mosque dispute case and prior to it celebrities from the Indian film industry were urging the people of India to maintain peace whatever the verdict may be.

Though there are some dissenting voices, the 3-way division of the disputed land is by and large hailed as a good verdict that paves the way for reconciliation among aggrieved parties.

From the industry the likes of Javed Akhtar and Shekhar Kapur have endorsed the verdict.

Javed saab while appearing on a television channel said it was a unique chance for both the Hindu and Muslim communities to ‘move on’. Mr. Akhtar supported the idea of a mandir and a masjid side by side.

Film maker Shekhar Kapur gave his opinion on Twitter. He called the verdict: “Mature handling by courts.”

Other stars reserved their personal opinion of the verdict but hailed the restraint shown by the people of all segments after the verdict.

“Thank you to the people of India for showing maturity and unity today and bravo to the media and the govt for handling the delicate situation wonderfully,” actress Preity Zinta wrote on her twitter page.

Priyanka Chopra too expressed her viewpoint by tweeting: “Official details of the judgement are awaited but opinions are flowing in. Whether you agree or disagree, use your voice to make a point, no violence. And as I keep saying... keep the peace... it's our nation at stake.”

Arshad Warsi called for the acceptance of the judgement.

“Let's accept the judgement and ignore the lawyers and their opinion on news channels. Humanity should be our religion,” he wrote.
