Box Office Update : Rajinikanth’s 'Robot' beats Salman’s 'Dabangg'
Guess how much has Rajinikanth’s latest release Endhiran The Robot has raked in? A humungous Rs. 117 crore at the box office, which is unmatched by any Indian film yet. A big leap from Salman Khan’s blockbuster Dabangg which made Rs. 82 crore in its first week.

What has been surprising is the success of 'Robot' in Hindi speaking regions. What remains to be seen is if this is purely a phenomenon attributed to Rajinikanth or if we will see more movies from the south foray outside their comfort zones.

According to a reliable trade analyst the first week revenue break up of Endhiran is thus:

Tamil Nadu: Rs. 60 crore
Andhra Pradesh: Rs. 30 crore
North India (Robot): Rs. 15 crore
Karnataka: Rs. 8 crore
Kerala: Rs. 4 crore

From the domestic market alone the film boasts of a net collection of Rs. 117 crore, which Dabangg took two weeks to earn but Endhiran has done in just one week.

Rajinikanth himself, has pulled out all the stops to ensure that Endhiran will be accepted in Hindi speaking markets, including a star-studded launch for the Robot's music in Mumbai, and an even bigger premiere for Robot.

More box office records are likely to be set in the coming days.

If more people in North must have watched the movie as an Indian to encourage Ranjinikant and the Robo team for making it possible for a Movie like Robot standards which stepped into Hollywood it might have even collected more than 150 cr in the first week. But people in north due to their attitude and discrimination towards south they avoid this good movie and see low standard movies like Anjaana anjaani and others where makers grind the same dough again and again with some repetative love, romance and social subjects to fool the young college going crowds to fill their pockets. As a north Indian I feel ashamed. Sorry folks, in other parts of India.
