A night of fun turns ugly for Abhijeet and friends

Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant beaten up by angry mob
What started out as a night of fun for Indian Idol winner and singer Abhijeet Sawant turned into a nightmare after a road accident that prompted the angry mob to beat him up.

At around half past eleven on Tuesday night, Abhijeet and his friends, including aspiring singer and good friend Prajakta Shukre were returning from a Juhu restaurant when the Sedan driven by Prajakta rammed into a two-wheeler, injuring the driver and the pillion rider seriously.

When locals gathered around the accident spot and argued with Prajakta, Abhijeet, who was driving another car, promptly jumped to her defence and reportedly had a heated argument with the locals. The angry mob then beat up Abhijeet.

Police was called to the spot and Abhijeet and Prajakta were sent for alcohol test. Meanwhile, the injured duo, brothers it turned out, was rushed to Nanavati hospital. They are presently out of danger.

Prajakta was taken into police custody and later released on a bail of Rs. 3000. The police is still investigating the accident and will take proper action accordingly.
