Box office blues continue. Last Friday’s releases Haunted - 3d and Luv Ka The End witnessed a poor weekend. Both the movies couldn’t pick up well after a slow start at the box office. However, Haunted - 3d did well at 3D screens, but there was no craze for the film in 2D.
The young-at-heart film Luv Ka The End starring Shraddha Kapoor and Taaha Shah will find it hard to sustain at BO. The film remained low during the weekend, and grossed merely Rs 2.30 crore approx. But since the movie is made on a low-budget, the makers don’t have much to lose.
Vikram Bhatt’s 3D horror film managed to woo the audiences at 3D screens. Haunted not only had a decent collection at single screens, its 3D version also fared well at multiplexes. But overall, the movie’s business is not up to the mark. The film grossed around Rs 8.25 crore approx in its first weekend. Its Tamil and Telugu versions added around Rs 20 lakhs to its weekend business. It did better on Sunday in comparison to Saturday and Friday, but will struggle in the coming days as another horror film Ragini MMS will hit the theatres on Friday.
Lara Dutta’s maiden production venture Chalo Dilli had an average first week of around Rs 5.50 crore approx. The film got good reviews and has done okay business in the Delhi/NCR area. Shor In The City had a poor first week and collected just Rs 3 crore approx.
Dum Maaro Dum is a flop. The movie did Rs 5.75 crore approx business in week two with 75% drop in its collections.
