The band SuperHeavy is a super confluence of music of different styles and cultures. Spearheaded by Mick Jagger, the band, also comprising Indian musician A R Rahman, has now released its second single ‘Satyamev Jayte’.
Truth Alone Triumphs. That’s the meaning of Satyamev Jayete, the motto of India, also embossed on the country’s national emblem. The song has been recorded by SuperHeavy, the band comprising of Jagger, Rahman, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone and Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley.
In the song, only Rahman and Jagger sing in Sanskrit while the other singers sing in English.
“When Dave said AR we want your voice in this album we want this to be a great Indian song too; a long dream for me was to take one of the morals of Indian culture which is Satyameva Jayathe and make it as a song,” Rahman is quoted as saying by a news agency.
“This is historic if Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley and Dave Stewart and me come together for a song like this, it is iconic in a way. I hope people like it,” Rahman added.
‘Satyamev Jayate’ is the second single from SuperHeavy after ‘Miracle Worker’ which is already a chartbuster.
The song will be part of the first album of SuperHeavy set to release in September.
Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peek of Satyamev Jayate. Don’t miss Jagger and Rahman’s jamming.
