Prakash Jha’s latest film Aarakshan has become a hotbed of controversy. The film is slated to release on August 12 but it has been banned in three states: Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

The film was first banned in UP, followed by Punjab. And now the Andhra Pradesh government today temporarily banned its screening in the state.

The decision of a temporary ban was taken after the government received a representation from Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Kulala Shamikshama Sangam, Hyderabad, and Andhra Pradesh Ambedkar Yujuna Sangam, seeking suspension of the exhibition of the film.

Meanwhile, the film’s director Prakash Jha is scrambling for damage control and has said that he is willing to make appropriate changes in the film if some dialogues or scenes hurt the sentiments of a particular community.

“We have agreed to make minor changes following objections. There are certain dialogues and scenes that have been edited,” Jha said at a press conference.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar and Manoj Bajpai. It is based on the issue of caste-based reservation in education system.
