|South actress Nithya Menon has been banned by Kerala Film Producer’s Association (KFPA) only because she refused to meet a reputed producer.
Nithya, who’s worked mostly in Malayalam films, earned the wrath of the producers association when a senior producer approached her on the sets of the movie Thalsamayam Penkutty in Thiruvananthapuram to sign her for his movie. However, Nithya was reportedly busy with the shoot and refused to meet the producer and forwarded him to her manager.
This snub by the actress angered the producer who reportedly lodged a complaint with KFPA following which a ban was imposed on her. Not just that, the association is said to be asking the other film industries in the south to ban Nithya.
The ban on Nithya comes just weeks after Kannada actress Nikitha was banned for having an illicit relationship with the actor Darshan who was arrested for assaulting and threatening his wife. Though the ban was later revoked, it highlighted the industry’s duplicity in punishing the actress while trying to extenuate Darshan’s misdeed.
Similarly, the ban on Nithya Menon is being seen as too harsh. Industry insiders say that a male star would never be banned for such a misdemeanour.
