Kalki Koechlin doesn’t fall in the bracket of usual Bollywood heroines. Her unconventional looks and her choice of roles set her apart. Seen this Friday in the new release My Friend Pinto, Kalki Koechlin opens up about her career and her marriage to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

My Friend Pinto has Kalki dabbling in comedy for the first time.

“Comedy is difficult because it is spontaneous and timing is an important part of it. It is easy to be over the top but it hard to be subtle in the comedy. That was the most challenging part,” Kalki is quoted as saying in an interview with a news agency.

Talking about her role, Kalki revealed: “I play a character called Maggie. She is a wide-eyed innocent Catholic girl who wants to become a dancer. But her mother won't let her because she feels the industry is bad and she has to compromise a lot to get to the top. She meets Prateik and her life changes.”

About her personal life, Kalki said that her husband Anurag Kashyap doesn’t help her out in anything.

“Marriage is just a commitment to each other and nothing else. Anurag is useless - he never helps me learn anything, not even Hindi. He always talks to me in English but I force him to talk in Hindi,” Kalki said.

Kalki is presently busy shooting for director Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai.
