Box Office report: 'Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge' takes lead among new releases

All five new releases of this Friday opened poorly at box office, but there’s a bit of consolation for the Y Films’ youth flick Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge.

But the bad news first. Aazaan, which was very heavily publicized and had broader release than any of the other four releases, opened to a poor response at box office. The film, starring Sachiin Joshi and Candice Boucher, has got mixed reviews, but the footfalls in theatres ranged between 0 to 10 percent.

In comparison, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, which was moderately publicized, opened better with a response ranging between 15 to 20 percent. The good part is that the film has got a thumbs-up from the critics, which means that the footfalls may go up in the coming days.

The other three releases, My Friend Pinto, Mod and Jo Dooba So Par - Its Love In Bihar, witnessed a very tepid response at box office.

Meanwhile, last week’s release Rascals rounded off its first extended week at theatres with a nett collection of Rs. 29 crore, which is below par.

The lull at the box office might be broken with the Diwali bang when Shahrukh Khan’s much anticipated, much publicized and much vaunted sci-fi thriller Ra.One hits the theatres. Till then, box office is just biding time.
