The members of the American heavy metal band Metallica are disappointed that their Gurgaon gig has been cancelled. However, the lead guitarist Kirk Hammet hopes to enjoy his visit to India.
“I want to have a really nice curry in Goa. I would love to go around the country after the concert. We are constantly influenced by the countries we go to. India too influences our music,” Hammett said at a press conference held on Friday.
Hammett added that Metallica’s music is more like Kali’s music.
“Our music is very different. It is the music of Kali,” Hammett said.
Metallica’s Gurgaon concert was to coincide with the flagging off of F1 Grand Prix in India on Friday. Now, the band is headed to Bangalore for a concert on Sunday.
The band’s lead vocalist James Hetfield said that he’s sure Metallica enjoys a huge fan base in India.
“We do know that we have a strong fan base in India. I thank the bands that have been playing our music when we could not come here. All I can say is that they should go on playing and making music. Even we were inspired by other bands when we started out. That's how one learns. That's how we got here.”
The four-member band was formed in 1981. Its present members are: lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, drummer Lars Ulrich, lead vocalist James Hetfield and bassist Robert Trujillo.
