Happy Birthday, Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth, the icon of South Indian cinema, celebrates his birthday today. He turns 61.

We hear that the actor will spend time with his family on the special day. As is the custom, there will be a small puja in the household. Friends and relatives have reportedly been sending bouquets with good wishes for Rajinikanth, who, as we all know, took ill earlier this year while filming for his next movie Rana and even went to Singapore for treatment.

Expectedly, hordes of fans are going to gather outside his residence to wish their ‘Thalaivar’ (leader) a happy birthday.

The Rajinikanth fans are also organizing a slew of events to mark the megastar’s birthday on Monday.

Despite superstardom, the 61-year-old Rajinikanth has remained humble and down to earth. His living style is simple and he is said to be a spiritual person.

Rajinikanth was born in a Maharashtrian family and struggled with poverty in his youth, even working as a bus conductor in Bangalore. He was discovered by filmmaker K Balanchander and launched in Tamil films as a villain. But soon Rajinikanth proved his mettle in other roles and rose to the stature of a superstar.
