Sonam feels her flipping the bird in ‘Players’ is a normal thing

Showing middle finger is no big deal: Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor thinks showing the middle finger is a part and parcel of the lingo of today’s youth and therefore not much brouhaha should be made over the scene in Players where she is shown flipping the bird.

Sonam Kapoor isn’t worried how the Censor Board will perceive that gesture.

“I don't believe in censorship so whether they like it or not, I really don't care about it. I just want people to come and see my film. Showing a middle finger is a part of today's youth,” Sonam is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Sonam adds that showing the middle finger is a normal thing for today’s youth.

“I think it is part of our language...it is part of your lingo. We abuse when we have a normal conversation with our friends. I don't believe anything should be censored, it is crazy, especially when it comes to art, films...especially when you live in India where freedom of speech and expression is our basic right,” she said.

Initially, the Censor board had given a green signal to Sonam’s middle finger gesture in Players, but later on, it got it blurred.

“I think it is double standards and being hypocritical. It’s like oh my god she did this. I am just saying it is a normal thing, when I started doing it I never thought of it. When guys would bother me while I was in college, I used to flip my finger. I think it is like a normal lingo,” the 26-year-old said.

Sonam plays an outspoken, blunt hacker the in Abbas-Mustan action-thriller, a remake of Hollywood film, 'The Italian Job'. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Omi Vaidya, releases on January 6, 2012.

In fact, Sonam has been quite carefree in her use of words on her Twitter page as well. Just yesterday when she got stuck in the traffic, she tweeted: “Traffuuccckkked! Wth!!! Whyyyy!!! Ugh!! Its so bloody frustrating!! I feel like wringing someones neck!”
