Box office update: Shahrukh Khan’s 'Don 2' makes Rs. 75 crore in first week

Shahrukh Khan’s latest release Don 2 has had a good first week with a nett collection of Rs. 75 crore, but the question still remains if the film will cross the Rs. 100 crore mark.

After a Rs. 48 crore first weekend collection from all its versions (in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil), the Farhan Akhtar directed film added another Rs 27 crore to its kitty to round up the first week at a figure of Rs. 75 crore. The second weekend is likely to add another 15 to 20 crore to the aggregate, which will push the film’s collection close to the billion mark.

Don 2 has also fared very well overseas. The response has particularly been superb in the US where it raked in just a little under Rs. 14 crore. The second best response was from the Middle East with a collection of Rs. 13 crore. The total overseas collection of Don 2 after the first week stands at Rs. 50 crore, which is a very good figure.

Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol has emerged as the highest Hollywood grosser in India for the year 2011. The film’s two-week business is a little over Rs. 32 crore.

The coming Friday -- the first one of 2012 -- will see the release of Players.
