Bollywood has now officially the first blockbuster of the year in Agneepath. In its first week run at the theatres, the movie has raked in a whopping Rs. 92 crore net at box office.
The film showed the signs of a blockbuster on the opening day itself when it broke the box office record with the highest first-day collection, pegged at Rs. 23 crore.
The subsequent dip in the collections soon recovered and the first weekend ended on a promising note. Though the collections have been dipping steadily throughout the week, the seven-day collection of the film adds up to a heartening figure between 91 and 92 crore.
Here is the first-week break-up of ‘Agneepath’:
Thursday - 23 cr
Friday - 12.50 cr
Saturday - 14.5 cr
Sunday - 17.75 cr
Monday - 7.5 cr
Tuesday - 6.4 cr
Wednesday - 5.4 cr
Thursday - 4.25 cr
The film is likely to enter the Rs. 100 crore club soon. That will surely cheer up the producers and distributors who have already been grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Agneepath also faces little competition from the new release Gali Gali Chor Hai this Friday. The film opened to poor reviews and a dismal 10 to 15 percent response at multiplexes on its opening day.
The next big release would be Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu on February 10.
