Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh have already started working in their first film Lootera, but do you know the duo actually cried when they first heard the script of the film.
As the movie’s title Lootera suggests, it’s not an action film, but a dewy-eyed romance. Directed by the Udaan fame Vikramaditya Motwane, the film starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha is a screen adaptation of one of the most memorable short stories by the renowned writer O. Henry: The Last Leaf.
The Last Leaf is a story of a dying girl who daily sees a tree from a window and believes that the day the last leaf from the tree outside her room falls, she would die. Vikramditya Motwane was always fascinated by this story and wrote Lootera even before Udaan. But the premise of the short story was not enough for a feature-film adaptation, so Motwane wrote a whole new first-half for the film while the romantic second half of the film is based on The Last Leaf.
Producer Vikas Bahl says, “Yes, Lootera is based on O’Henry’s story. It’s a beautiful touching story and Vikramaditya has fleshed it out beautifully.”
Sonakshi Sinha’s character is said to be based on the female protagonist in the short story, and from that, we guess probably Ranveer Singh gets to play the good neighbour who saves her life.
The 'beautiful' second half of the film is exclusively shot in the picturesque Kashmir valley.
